On April 4th, 2024, the CA Department of Insurance held a webinar, “Wildfire and Disaster Insurance Online Town Hall,” hosted by Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, and the Las Virgenes-Malibu Council of Governments.
Agoura Hills’ Mayor Pro Tem Penny Sylvester was part of the panel and asked Commissioner Lara (CDI) and Chief Daniel Berlant (CAL FIRE), some very tough and direct questions.
Insurance Companies are moving to a prevention model, which puts much of the responsibility on us. If we don’t accept this responsibility, we can lose our insurance. We cannot just complain about the current home insurance conundrum; we must educate ourselves and become part of the solution.
