2025 was a very successful year for the Oak Park Fire Safe Council

- As of December 2025, the Oak Park Fire Safe Council now has 7 active, officially recognized Firewise USA® Communities — designated by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
- Approximately 35% of Oak Park residents now live within a Firewise Community.
- So far in 2025, Oak Park residents have reported $1,111,721 worth of Firewise Activities, both volunteer hours and dollars spent, towards wildfire mitigation in their communities. This is a result of a concerned and active community.
- We have formed a core team of 45 volunteers, including Board Members and Community Leaders.
- Our monthly outreach and educational and informative newsletter now reach over 1,000 Oak Park residents.
- We work closely with the Ventura County Regional Fire Safe Council to implement new wildfire mitigation programs.
- We have distributed hundreds of Firewise Certificates to Oak Park Residents who are now receiving discounts on their home insurance.
- We have completed seven Community Wildfire Assessments to evaluate community threats and developed 3-year action plans to mitigate them.
- With the help of our partner, the Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council, hundreds of homes in Oak Park have received Free Home Ignition Zone evaluations to educate homeowners on home hardening and defensible space. Thanks to these evaluations, homeowners have made their homes and communities more resilient to wildfires.
- We have developed educational materials and held workshops to help residents learn how to stay safe before, during, and after wildfires.
- Our website has grown into an essential resource for Oak Park residents.
- We received $10,000 in grants to sustain our ongoing programming.
- We have held two public events to help achieve our goal of educating Oak Park residents about wildfire mitigation.
We are very proud of what we have achieved this year.
