CERT Training is a hybrid program combining an independent online curriculum with a six-week, in-person skills training taught by Ventura County Fire Fighters.
Following a major disaster, first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be able to meet the demand for service typically rendered. The local population will have to rely on each other for help. Community Emergency Response Team Training is a program that focuses on being prepared for that eventuality.
The six-week training is conducted by the Ventura County Fire Department free of charge to all citizens 18 and older.
Topics Include:
- Light search and rescue
- Fire suppression
- Disaster first aid
- Disaster psychology
- Home disaster preparedness
- Introduction to Homeland Security
