The following documents are important for fire prevention and protection in Oak Park. They generally fall into four categories:
- Foundational Documents – These are documents that are critical to the foundation of the Oak Park Fire Safe Council and to our ability to apply for grants They are required for many of the projects and programs we engage in.
- Educational Documents – These documents educate our homeowners on various aspects of fire protection and prevention, as well as on the critical programs we are engaged in.
- HOA Firewise Documents – These are documents you require to make your HOA a Firewise Community
- Status Documents – These documents update the community regarding our status and performance on various programs
Keep track of time spent reading or reviewing these documents. You can update the website with these as volunteer hours.

There are several steps to take to become recognized as a Firewise USA® site. The community wildfire risk assessment is one of the most important steps in the process. It’s a tool to help residents understand their wildfire risk and engage in risk reduction efforts.

Please note that defensible space is required at all times for all buildings or structures within California’s State Responsibility Area under Public Resource Code 4291 and for Local Governments with designated Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones under Government Code 51182.
